The Electric Apocalypse: How Dependence on Electricity Could Be Our Downfall
As I sit here, typing away on my computer, I can’t help but feel a sense of unease. You see, I have a fear. A fear of electricity. Not the electricity itself, but the increasing dependence on it in every aspect of our lives. From the push for electric cars to the phasing out of gas stoves, it seems like we’re being forced to put all of our eggs into one basket. And that, my friends, is a recipe for disaster.
Let’s start with the cars. The push for electric vehicles is understandable, I’ll give you that. They’re better for the environment and they’re becoming more affordable. But what happens when the power grid goes down? What happens when a massive storm knocks out power to entire cities? Suddenly, those “green” cars aren’t so green anymore. They’re just big, expensive paperweights.
And it’s not just cars. We’re seeing more and more appliances and devices that are powered solely by electricity. Gas stoves are being phased out in favor of electric ones. But what happens when the power goes out during a winter storm and you can’t cook dinner? Or, God forbid, heat your home?
